‘‘Result of an Intelligence Failure,’ Says Akhilesh Yadav; Demands Discussion on Pahalgam Terror Attack
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a “result of an intelligence failure” and demanding an immediate discussion in Parliament on the serious lapse in national security.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Yadav said, “The Pahalgam terror attack is deeply disturbing. It shows that despite tall claims of security preparedness, there has been a serious failure of intelligence. The government must answer.”
He emphasized that the safety of civilians and security personnel must be prioritized, and that such incidents cannot be brushed aside with routine statements. “We want a full-fledged debate in Parliament. The country deserves to know what went wrong and what steps are being taken to prevent such attacks in future,” he said.
The terror attack in Pahalgam, which targeted security forces and left several casualties, has sparked widespread outrage. While the government has assured strict action and enhanced vigilance, the Opposition has used the opportunity to question the handling of internal security under the current regime.
Akhilesh Yadav also extended his condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the attack, while urging the Centre to ensure accountability within the security establishment.
As pressure mounts, the government may face tough questions in the ongoing Monsoon Session, with security, intelligence coordination, and border management likely to dominate parliamentary debates in the coming days.
