Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttarakhand’s Harsil valley, engaging in several activities aimed at promoting tourism and cultural heritage. He attended the ‘Uttarakhand Tourist Winter Tourism’ exhibition, which showcased the state’s scenic destinations and rich cultural legacy.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also flagged off a trek and bike rally from Harsil, signaling the commencement of expeditions to high-altitude trekking routes, including the Janaktal trek. This particular trail, ascending to over 17,000 feet, is among the highest globally and had been closed since the 1962 war.
Prior to these events, PM Modi offered prayers at Mukhba, the winter abode of Goddess Ganga, underscoring the region’s spiritual significance.
These initiatives are part of broader efforts to boost winter tourism and adventure activities in Uttarakhand, highlighting the government’s commitment to regional development and cultural preservation.
