“Platitudes & Hypocrisy”: Congress Slams PM Modi’s Foreign Visit During Parliament’s Monsoon Session
The Congress party has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his foreign visit coinciding with the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, calling it an act of “platitudes and hypocrisy.”
Taking to social media and press briefings, senior Congress leaders questioned the Prime Minister’s commitment to democratic accountability. “At a time when Parliament is in session and pressing national issues are being raised—from unemployment and inflation to Manipur and NEET—PM Modi chooses to be abroad,” a party spokesperson stated.
Labeling the visit as “poorly timed,” Congress accused the BJP of undermining parliamentary democracy. “The Prime Minister, who rarely attends parliamentary debates, now skips the session altogether under the guise of foreign diplomacy. This is not leadership, this is escape,” said Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in charge of communications.
The BJP, however, defended the Prime Minister’s foreign engagement, stating that India’s global diplomacy cannot be put on hold and that such visits are scheduled months in advance. “Unlike the Congress era, India’s stature in the world today demands an active and visible presence,” BJP spokespersons argued.
The war of words adds to the already heated atmosphere in Parliament, where opposition parties have united under the INDIA bloc to challenge the government on multiple fronts during the Monsoon Session.
As the session progresses, the political rhetoric is expected to intensify, with both sides trading barbs over priorities, responsibilities, and national interest.
