“They Don’t Know India” — DMK Leader Elangovan Slams BJP, Accuses It of Undermining Tamil Nadu’s Development
In a sharp political attack, senior DMK leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan has accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately sidelining Tamil Nadu’s development agenda and ignoring the state’s rightful demands.
🎙️ Addressing a press meet, Elangovan remarked:
“They don’t know India. If they did, they wouldn’t be constantly trying to undermine Tamil Nadu.”
He alleged that the BJP government fails to understand the unique socio-political and economic fabric of Tamil Nadu and instead treats southern states as second-class stakeholders in national policy-making.
🔹 Elangovan also criticized the allocation of central funds, claiming that Tamil Nadu, despite being one of the highest tax-contributing states, receives disproportionately low returns from the Centre.
🔹 He pointed to delays in infrastructure projects, NEET-related insensitivity, and lack of consultation on language and education policies as examples of the Centre’s neglect.
🔥 The DMK leader went further to say that the BJP’s approach reflects a “North-centric mindset”, which not only alienates Tamil Nadu but threatens the very idea of cooperative federalism in India.
🗳️ With Lok Sabha 2024 election outcomes still echoing in political circles, Elangovan’s remarks signal renewed tension between the Centre and regional parties like the DMK, who see themselves as champions of state rights and cultural identity.
📝 A nation as diverse as India demands understanding, not uniformity. Elangovan’s critique is more than political—it’s a call for respect, equity, and true federalism.
