Stolen E-Rickshaw Batteries Recovered; Two Notorious Thieves Apprehended

Swift action by Bhagaduttapur Police has led to the recovery of stolen E-rickshaw batteries and the arrest of two habitual offenders involved in battery theft across the region.
The case originated when Bhupen Das, son of Late Nareshwar Das, a resident of Kaladhar Mikir Path, Dakhingaon, lodged a complaint stating that two batteries from his E-rickshaw were stolen by unknown miscreants. Acting promptly on the information, a team led by Sub-Inspector Anjan Sharma, In-Charge of Bhagaduttapur Outpost, initiated an investigation into the matter.
Following sustained efforts and intelligence-based operations, the police successfully apprehended two accused persons involved in the crime:
Babjan Ali (29), son of Late Anowar Hussain, resident of Tulamati, Baihata Chariali, under Baihata Chariali Police Station, District Kamrup (R).
Rakesh Ali (24), son of Gulzar Ali, resident of Solmari, Baihata Chariali, under Baihata Chariali Police Station, District Kamrup (R).
Both individuals are known for their previous involvement in property-related crimes and have been under surveillance for suspected theft activities in the region.
During the course of interrogation, the duo admitted to their involvement in multiple battery thefts. Based on the information provided by them, police were able to recover a total of eight stolen batteries from various locations. The recovered batteries include:
1. One Exide Express 1000 ampere battery (red)
2. Two Exide Express 1200 ampere batteries (white)
3. One Livguard 75 ampere battery (white)
4. One M-Swift 1000 ampere battery (red)
5. One SF Sonic 1000 ampere battery (blue)
6. Two Exide 100 ampere batteries (white)
The successful recovery not only includes the batteries stolen from Bhupen Das’s E-rickshaw but is also believed to be linked to other recent cases of battery thefts in and around the Baihata Chariali and Guwahati areas.
A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the law, and further investigation is underway to identify other possible accomplices and recover more stolen property. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and will be produced before the court.
