N. F. Railway Registers 8.69% Growth in Freight Unloading
Maligaon, 04th September, 2025:
Northeast Frontier Railway continues to record consistent growth in freight unloading activities. In the month of August 2025, a total of 1113 freight-carrying rakes were unloaded, marking 8.69% increase compared to the same period last year.
A significant portion of this freight traffic supports the northeastern states. In August 2025, a total of 624 rakes were unloaded in Assam, out of which 282 rakes carried essential commodities. During the same period, 174 rakes were unloaded in Tripura, 14 in Nagaland, 08 in Arunachal Pradesh, 34 in Manipur, 06 rakes in Meghalaya and 24 rakes in Mizoram. Additionally, 380 rakes in West Bengal and 316 rakes in Bihar were also unloaded consisting essential and non-essential commodities within the jurisdiction of N. F. Railway during August, 2025.
The uninterrupted supply of essential and other commodities plays a vital role in sustaining daily life and promoting economic activity across the region. The speedy completion of doubling projects in key sections over N.F. Railway has significantly enhanced both inward and outward freight movement, enabling quicker and more efficient transportation of goods. This infrastructure upgrade has directly contributed to the steady rise in freight unloading across the zone.
