Kokrajhar Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Pride and Patriotism
Kokrajhar, August 15:
The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with grandeur and patriotic fervour in Kokrajhar, the “City of Peace,” as citizens from across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) gathered to mark the historic occasion.
The celebrations began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by the dignitary, who proudly unfurled the revered Tricolour in the heart of Kokrajhar, amidst chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” The moment was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices that laid the foundation of the nation’s freedom and unity.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitary highlighted the transformation of BTR from a region once marred by conflict into a land of confidence, peace, and progress. “The air today is filled with the spirit of peace, unity, and hope. Our journey reflects the strength and resilience of our people,” he said.
On the occasion, meritorious students and eminent citizens of BTR were felicitated for their exemplary achievements and contributions to society. These awards, the dignitary noted, symbolise the ideals of dedication, hard work, and service — the very values upon which the nation was built.
The event concluded with a pledge to continue working towards building a peaceful, united, and inclusive BTR, while contributing to the shared vision of a Viksit Bharat. The celebrations also featured cultural performances showcasing the region’s rich heritage, adding colour and vibrancy to the historic day.
As the Tricolour fluttered high against the August sky, Kokrajhar stood united in its commitment to uphold the ideals of freedom, harmony, and development.
