ILLEGAL CATTLE SLAUGHTER DURING EID-UL-ZUHA

While our Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to practice their religion freely, it equally upholds the rule of law, public order, and animal welfare.

This Eid-ul-Zuha, several disturbing incidents involving illegal cattle slaughter and the recovery of cattle remains have been reported across Assam:

5 cases of cattle parts recovered from:

Near Cotton University (Kamrup Metropolitan)

Dhubri, Hojai, and Sribhumi (Bagargool)

5 illegal slaughter sites uncovered:

3 in Cachar: Gumrah, Silchar, Lakhipur

2 in Karimganj: Badarpur, Banga

16 individuals arrested so far:

9 from Cachar

7 from Sribhumi

Let it be clearly understood: communal harmony is vital, but it cannot come at the cost of lawlessness, animal cruelty, or disregard for public order. The law applies equally to all—irrespective of faith or background—and strict action will be taken against all violators.

We urge citizens to cooperate with law enforcement, celebrate festivals responsibly, and report any illegal activity to the authorities.
