
EGPD Busts Stolen Goods Racket in Dakhingaon, Copper Worth Lakhs Seized
Guwahati: Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Bhagaduttapur Out Post under Dispur Police Station carried out a raid at Dakhingaon Saru Tiniali, near a local Madrasa, and unearthed a stash of stolen materials.
During the operation, police seized:
2.55 quintals of stolen copper wire
35 kg of stolen AC copper pipe
The receiver of the stolen goods, identified as Abbas Ali (29) of Barpeta, has been apprehended on the spot. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against him, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the stolen items and possible involvement of other individuals.
Police sources said the recovered copper is worth several lakhs in the grey market, and such thefts often target public utility infrastructure, causing disruption and loss to essential services.
