Assam Police Intercepts Massive Drug Haul at Churaibari Check Post
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Police intercepted a huge consignment of contraband at the Churaibari check post. Acting on inputs, the police team seized as many as 30,420 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, estimated to be worth nearly ₹3 crore in the illegal market.
The consignment was being transported in a vehicle when it was intercepted during routine checking. Police officials confirmed that the narcotics were being smuggled to neighboring states as part of an organized network.
Two suspected drug peddlers have been taken into custody in connection with the case. They are currently under interrogation, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network involved in this cross-border drug racket.
Authorities lauded the swift action of the police team at Churaibari and reiterated their commitment to intensify the fight against drug trafficking across Assam and the Northeast.
