
Prime Minister in Kolkata ahead of Durga Puja, inaugurates metro expansion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight at being in Kolkata as the city gears up for the grand Durga Puja festivities. Calling it a special day for connectivity in the city, he dedicated the expansion of the metro network to the people of Kolkata.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the new metro lines will bring immense benefits to lakhs of citizens by easing daily travel and improving urban mobility.
In a symbolic gesture, he also travelled on the metro alongside students and Shramiks (workers) who contributed to the construction and expansion of the infrastructure. The interaction with young commuters and frontline workers showcased the government’s emphasis on people’s participation in nation-building.
Officials noted that the metro expansion is part of the Centre’s larger commitment to modern, sustainable, and efficient urban transport in India.
