Pressmeet : Teachers’ Body in BTR Demands Provincialization of Schools

The All BTR Non-Provincialized Teachers’ and Employees’ Coordination Committee has demanded immediate provincialization of educational institutions across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
At a press meet held today, the committee emphasized that under Clause 6.3 of the BTR Accord, 713 schools are eligible for provincialization. However, despite repeated appeals and discussions, the BTR Government has failed to take necessary action.
The committee revealed that more than 4,000 teachers and employees working in primary, upper primary, high school, and higher secondary institutions across the region continue to remain outside the purview of provincialization.
Expressing strong resentment, the body highlighted that in the last 20 years, not a single educational institution in BTR has been provincialized, leaving thousands of teachers and staff in a state of prolonged insecurity.
The leaders of the Coordination Committee warned that if the government fails to address their demand, they would be left with no choice but to intensify their democratic agitation in the coming days.
