Snatching Case Solved in 8 Hours by Basistha PS EGPD Team; Three Arrested, Stolen Items Recovered
Guwahati, August 4, 2025: In a swift and commendable operation, an EGPD team from Basistha Police Station successfully cracked a snatching case within just 8 hours of the incident being reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 PM near Laxmi Mandir, where a woman was attacked by two miscreants on a numberless scooty. The snatchers fled the spot after forcefully taking away her Oppo mobile phone.
Acting on technical analysis and credible inputs, the police team tracked down and apprehended two habitual offenders — Kamal Roy (24) and Bishal Das (19) — from the Khanapara area. Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime.
Based on the information they provided, the police also arrested one Nasir Uddin (33) from Beharbari, a known receiver of stolen property. From him, the following items were recovered:
The snatched Oppo mobile phone
One broken Vivo phone
One additional Vivo mobile phone
The scooty used in the crime and the clothes worn during the act were also seized from the accused.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against all the accused. The police team’s quick response and effective investigation were instrumental in solving the case within hours, ensuring justice for the victim and maintaining public safety.
