PRO Kannada Org Members Detained by Police Over Controversial Social Media Post by BZ Zameer Khan’s PA
Bengaluru, 24 June:
Tension escalated in Bengaluru after members of the PRO Kannada Organization were detained by the police in connection with a controversial social media post allegedly made by the personal assistant (PA) of Karnataka Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan.
According to sources, the PA’s post, which surfaced online recently, triggered outrage among Kannada activists who accused it of being derogatory towards Kannada language sentiments and local identity. Members of the PRO Kannada Org gathered to protest the post, demanding strict action against the PA.
However, before the protest could gain further momentum, police intervened and detained several organization members to prevent any potential law-and-order situation. The detentions have sparked fresh criticism from pro-Kannada activists, who allege that their voices are being stifled while those responsible for the offensive post roam free.
Leaders of the PRO Kannada Org have condemned the police action, asserting their right to peaceful protest. “We are only standing up for our language and culture. The real culprit should face legal action,” said a spokesperson of the group.
As of now, no official statement has been released from Minister Zameer Khan regarding the controversial post or the involvement of his PA. Police officials, meanwhile, have urged all parties to maintain peace and assured that the matter is under investigation.
Further developments are awaited.
