*11th International Yoga Day Celebrated in Tamulpur*

*Tamulpur, 21 June 2025* :

The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated today at the Mahaprabhu Sri Sri Gopal and Jagannath Than Satra in Kochubari, Tamulpur district, organized by the Tamulpur District Administration. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by BTC Deputy Chief Executive Member Govinda Basumatary. In his brief yet meaningful address, he remarked, “Yoga is not just for physical fitness but is also vital for mental well-being.”

 

Yoga instructors and experts from the Baksa District Yoga Science College and Patanjali Yog Peeth conducted demonstrations and guided participants through yoga practices.

 

As part of the celebrations, winners of the yoga competitions held earlier were awarded at the event. The winners in each category were— “Group A” : 1. Rema Daimari, 2. Sujuma Boro, 3. Fanjari Basumatary; “Group B” : 1. Mayank Geres, 2. Anita Sarania, 3. Katerina Barman; “Group C” : 1. Yuvraj Karki, 2. Liza Kalita, 3. Arj Basumatary; “Group D” : 1. Mala Narzary, 2. Nirupama Lahkar, 3. Purnima Deka. Senior yoga practitioners were also honored during the program. The event was attended by Tamulpur District Senior Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Choudhury, MCLA Bijitgwra Narzary, officials and staff of the district administration, Assam Police, Indian Army, Border Security Force, representatives of various government departments and students. This year’s Yoga Day was observed under the central theme— “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
